I find my photos through experimentation. I rarely have an idea of what I want until it is nearly finished. Normally, I start by setting a limitation. Learning around the limitation always shows me new techniques that are unnecessary but soo cool. I mess around with the effects until I have a ton of photos. After that I sit here and I pick out the ones I like.
